Wind power technology can be applied in similar categories as the other renewable energy technologies, where it can be used for light industrial and commercial applications. We can further apply wind power technology to large scale power generation plants in wind farm configuration with the purpose to integrate it into the grid under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) license and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The smaller wind turbine systems that are suitable for the small holdings environment would range from around 50kW. The medium sized turbine systems that are suitable for light industrial and commercial environment range from around 50kW – 750kW and higher.
The large scale wind turbine systems designated for grid integration can range from 1MW – 500MW and higher depending on the environmental, climatic and geographic conditions. In certain instances under critical load conditions a double conversion on line UPS may be used to prevent dips during the transition from either supply source or technology type.
